Our services and applicable laws may evolve, and we may update these Terms from time to time. We encourage you to review the Terms periodically. By continuing to use Sawanleb after changes are made, you accept the current version of the Terms.

- Do not reverse engineer any aspect of Sawanleb to access source code, underlying ideas, or algorithms.
Section 4. How Crowdfunding Projects Work
The bulk of our Terms of Use explains your relationship with Sawanleb. This section differs—it clarifies the relationship between Sawanleb project creators and supporters, and what each party is responsible for. This is what you agree to when creating or supporting a Sawanleb project.
Sawanleb provides a funding platform for creative projects yet to be realised. When creators publish a project on Sawanleb, they are inviting others to enter into a contract with them. Any individual supporting the project is accepting the creator’s proposal and thereby forming that contract.
Sawanleb is not a party to this contract—it is a direct agreement between the creator and their backers. Should any provision herein conflict with supplementary or additional terms applied by the creator to their project, these terms shall prevail. The following provisions govern the agreement between the creator and their backers:
- During the project period, particularly after successful funding, the creator owes supporters a duty of high diligence, honest communication, and commitment to realising the project. Simultaneously, supporters agree and acknowledge that their backing does not constitute purchasing goods—they are aiding in the creation of something new, not ordering something already in existence. Each project is unique. Changes or delays may occur, and unforeseen circumstances could prevent the creator from completing the project; the project’s outcome is not guaranteed.
- Supporters are not entitled to receive rewards merely because a project has secured funding. Once creators obtain funds to undertake a project, they enter a production and development phase during which the project is developed and ideally brought to fruition. Consequently, the pledges collected from supporters constitute a conditional, multi-purpose voucher. This voucher may be redeemed under the following circumstances: (a) the production phase is successfully completed; and (b) the backer actively redeems the voucher to obtain their reward, including providing the creator (either directly or via the pledge management platform) with the necessary information to determine and collect any applicable shipping costs, sales tax, or value-added tax (VAT) required for redeeming the voucher. Supporters bear responsibility for providing their information to the creator in a timely and accurate manner to receive rewards. Once the aforementioned conditions are met, this multi-purpose voucher may be redeemed for the reward originally pledged by the supporter, an equivalent alternative reward, or as partial payment towards a higher-value reward offered by the creator and accepted by the supporter.
- Should a creator be unable to complete their project and redeem issued multi-purpose vouchers to deliver rewards, they must make reasonable efforts to find an alternative means of securing the best possible outcome for backers. Creators in this position shall be deemed to have resolved the matter and fulfilled their obligations to backers if they meet the following conditions:
- Issue updates explaining the work completed, the use of funds, and the reasons preventing them from completing the project as planned;Work diligently and sincerely within the timeframe communicated to backers to achieve the best possible outcome for the project under the circumstances; demonstrate that funds were used appropriately and that every reasonable effort was made to fulfil commitments to complete the project; Maintain honesty in communications with backers and have not made any material misrepresentations; Offer to refund any remaining funds to backers who have not received rewards on a pro-rata basis, or explain how these funds will be used to complete the project in some alternative form.
- Creators bear full responsibility for fulfilling their projects and redeeming the multi-purpose vouchers they issue for any applicable rewards. Should they fail to meet these terms, they may face legal action taken by backers. During the period of unresolved disputes, Sawanleb reserves the right to take any action it deems appropriate to manage project funds.
Section 5. How Funding Works
This section details the specifics of supporting and creating projects—such as how funds are collected, whether pledges can be altered or cancelled, and how creators may contact backers to deliver rewards.
The following terms apply when you support the project during the project activity period and before the funding deadline:
- Payment will only be taken if the project reaches its funding target. You will be required to provide payment details when pledging, but no funds will be taken at this stage. Your payment will only be collected if the project reaches its funding target by the project’s funding deadline. The amount you pledge is the exact amount Sawanleb will collect. Should the project fail to reach its funding target, no funds will be taken from you, no money will be collected, and no financial transaction will occur.
- Occasionally, we may place a hold on your card. Sawanleb and its payment processors may authorise or place a hold on your credit card (or any payment method you use) for up to the full amount of your subscription at any time between the date you subscribe and the date funds are collected.Subject to certain exceptions, you may amend or cancel your pledge at any time prior to the project funding deadline. After pledging support for a project activity, you may increase, decrease, or cancel your pledge during the activity period, except in the following circumstances: within the final 24 hours of the project activity, should reducing or cancelling your pledge cause the project to fall below its funding target, you must first contact Sawanleb Customer Support before proceeding with such action.
The following terms apply when you choose to support the project through instalment contributions:
- Installment pledges become available when the total pledged amount meets specific criteria. When the total pledged amount reaches or exceeds $125 or the equivalent in other supported currencies, creators may choose to offer installment pledges to their backers. Should a creator opt for installment pledges, backers will see the option to select either an installment pledge or a full pledge on the checkout page.
- Your payment method will be charged three times. The first charge occurs after the project campaign concludes, with subsequent charges occurring monthly until the pledged amount is successfully collected.
- Should one or more charges fail, Sawanleb will contact you to resolve the payment issue. If you do not update your payment method, any amounts already collected may be treated as additional support.
The following terms apply when you support a project through a post-commitment pledge following the successful conclusion of the project activity:
- The payment will be deducted immediately upon subscription. When you make a subsequent subscription, your card will be debited instantly.
- You cannot cancel or alter your pledge. However, you may request a refund from the creator. Sawanleb shall not be held liable for cancellations or refunds.
The following terms apply to all subscriptions, whether made during the campaign period or as subsequent subscriptions:
- The estimated fulfilment date is the creator’s projection. Should the creator offer rewards, any month and year provided for each reward is merely the creator’s estimate and does not guarantee fulfilment by that time. As the creator progresses with project work, timelines may change. We require creators to plan carefully, setting estimated delivery dates they are confident they can strive to meet, and to communicate any changes to backers.
- Creators may need to send you enquiries regarding your selected reward. They may require details such as your postal address or T-shirt size. Such requests will be made after the project has successfully secured funding, or following any subsequent pledges you make. To redeem a multi-purpose voucher for any reward, you must provide the requested information within a reasonable timeframe. Creators should not request personal information unnecessary for fulfilling rewards and must never request sensitive personal details such as your National Insurance number or payment credentials. Should you receive requests for information that seem inappropriate or excessive, please contact us via Sawanleb Support.
- Sawanleb does not provide refunds. The responsibility for completing projects and redeeming multi-purpose vouchers rests entirely with the project creator. Sawanleb does not hold funds on behalf of creators, cannot guarantee creators’ work, and does not offer refunds.
The following terms apply when you create and run projects:
- Should you wish, you may refund individual pledges. Once your project is funded, you may cancel and refund supporters’ received pledges at any time. Should you refund a supporter’s pledge in full, you shall bear no further obligation to that specific supporter, and the agreement between you and the supporter shall be terminated.
We shall deduct our fees prior to transferring funds to your bank account. Sawanleb and its payment processors will deduct applicable fees before transferring project proceeds.
Some pledges may prove uncollectible, potentially reducing the funds you receive. As partial payments may fail (e.g., if a supporter’s credit card expires before the project concludes and no updated details are provided), the funds you receive may not equal the total pledged amount (after fees). - We shall endeavour to assist in resolving payment disputes. Should a backer of your project dispute a charge with their card issuer, we shall resubmit the charge to resolve the dispute with the card issuer. You will receive notification that the dispute has been submitted and may be requested to provide evidence to assist us in resolving the dispute in your favour. Should the dispute be deemed valid, you shall be liable for the chargeback amount and authorise us to collect the disputed amount using the credit card provided to us when you launched your project.
- Be prepared for potential delays. Do not assume you can launch your project whenever you wish; there may be reasons preventing immediate approval after submission, or issues requiring time to resolve. Do not assume you can access your funds immediately; delays may occur between the successful conclusion of project activities and when funds become available. Do not base any actions on receiving any pledged funds by a specific date. We encourage you to wait until you are actually able to withdraw and spend these funds from your account.
- Late pledges. Our late pledges feature allows creators to continue to collect pledges from new backers and issue multipurpose vouchers after their crowdfunding campaign has ended, but only up until the time when they are first ready to fulfill the rewards they have offered. Creators must enable the late pledge feature, and may do so prior to and during their live campaign. Late pledge functionally cannot be enabled after a live campaign has ended. If you have enrolled to use this feature and the feature is enabled, then the following additional terms apply:
You may not offer the same reward tiers available during the campaign period at a lower pledge amount than that offered during the campaign period. These reward tiers must be offered at the same or higher pledge amounts.
You may only accept late pledges once you are initially prepared to fulfil the rewards you have offered. It is your responsibility to disable the late pledging feature, which you may do within the project setup.
Whilst Sawanleb may provide reminders via periodic emails, when you download supporter reports, or when sending supporter surveys, it remains your responsibility to ensure the late pledging function is disabled when you are first ready to fulfil rewards, or to notify Sawanleb promptly to disable it for you.
Once processed, late pledges will be paid to the creator periodically. The timing may vary depending on processing times and reaching any reasonable minimum payment threshold set by Sawanleb.
Late pledges incur the same fees charged by Sawanleb for pledges made during the campaign period, along with identical payment processing fees.
Installment Contributions. For payments made via installment contributions, the first payment shall be disbursed within twenty-four (24) hours following your regular project payment. Remaining payments shall be consolidated and paid to you as a lump sum once all payments have successfully cleared.
Section 6. We neither undertake nor accept responsibility for such matters.
We do not monitor the fulfilment of projects, nor do we mediate disputes between users.
Sawanleb shall not be liable for any damages or losses arising from your use of the Service. We shall not intervene in disputes between users, or between users and any third parties, concerning the use of the Service. We do not monitor the fulfilment or timeliness of projects, nor do we endorse any content submitted by users to the website. By using the Service, you hereby release Sawanleb from all claims, damages, and demands arising from or related to such disputes and the Service—whether known or unknown, suspected or unsuspected, disclosed or undisclosed. All content accessed through the Service is at your own risk. You remain solely responsible for any damages or losses incurred by any party as a result.
Section 7. Our Fees
Currently, we charge a 5% platform fee on projects that successfully secure funding and on amounts raised through subsequent pledges, alongside standard fees to cover costs incurred by our payment processors.
Creating an account on Sawanleb is free of charge. Should your project reach its funding target, Sawanleb will charge a 5% platform fee, and our payment processor will levy a standard processing fee on each pledged contribution received. This also applies to subsequent pledges. For instalment pledges, fees are charged per deduction. Our payment processor fees may vary slightly depending on your region. Should we alter our fees, we shall publish this information on our website.
Funds pledged by supporters are collected by the payment processor. Each payment processor is an independent company, and Sawanleb is not responsible for their actions. Our current payment processor is Stripe.
You are responsible for paying any additional fees associated with your use of Sawanleb, as well as all local, state, federal, or other taxes and assessments. For example, creators are solely responsible for levying and/or remitting any applicable taxes on amounts received for their fundraising campaigns and projects.
Section 8. Other Websites
Should you click on a link to visit another website, what occurs there is between you and them – it is none of our concern.
Sawanleb may contain links to other websites. (For example, project pages, user profiles, and comments may link to other websites.) When you visit third-party websites, you do so at your own risk. We neither control nor endorse those websites.
Sawanleb partners with other companies, such as Stripe, for payment processing. When you support or create a project, you also agree to the payment processor’s terms of service.
Section 9. Your Intellectual Property
We do not own the content you publish on Sawanleb, but you do grant us a licence to use or reproduce it in any manner we may require or deem appropriate. We typically employ it to promote projects and showcase our community. Ultimately, you remain responsible for the content you publish and warrant that we may utilise it.
Sawanleb does not own content you submit to us, including content submitted for publication on your project page (‘Your Content’). However, to provide our services, we require you to grant certain permissions. When you submit a project for review, launch a project, or otherwise submit content to us via email or any other means, you agree to the following terms:
- We may use the content you submit. You grant us and others acting on our behalf a worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, sublicensable, and transferable right to use, reproduce, create derivative works, publicly display, publicly perform, distribute, transmit, communicate, commercialise, and exploit the copyright, publicity rights, trademark rights, and database rights associated with your content. Typically, we use this content to promote projects on our website and showcase our community, including through the application of “Our Favourite Projects” badges and similar distinctions. We consider numerous factors before featuring a project on our homepage or awarding it an “Our Favourite Projects” badge. These include, but are not limited to: clear project imagery (free of logos, badges, or text at the top), detailed descriptions (including a well-thought-out plan for project completion), compelling images or videos, an enthusiastic community, content we believe will interest diverse users, and, of course, a significant measure of creativity. Beyond awarding certain projects the “Our Favourite Projects” badge, we also curate the homepage to highlight exemplary Sawanleb projects. Projects at the very top of the homepage are typically the very best “Our Favourite Projects” – selected based on creative innovation, honesty, and alignment with Sawanleb’s mission and charter – but we also use algorithms to recommend popular projects, projects your friends have backed or launched, and projects tailored for you. We may also recommend projects that gain visibility through the creator’s own promotional efforts, and/or projects suggested based on your previous search terms, browsing history, project support and interactions, and cookies collected during your visits to our website. Sawanleb reserves the right to apply and remove all such badges at its sole discretion, as well as to initiate and discontinue all such promotional activities.
- When we use your content, we may make alterations such as editing or translating it. You grant us the right to create derivative works from your content. This may include editing, modifying, reformatting, excerpting, or translating any of your content.
- You shall not submit content for which you do not hold the copyright (unless you have the authority to grant us these rights). Your content must not contain material protected by third-party copyright or subject to other third-party proprietary rights, unless you have obtained permission from the material’s lawful owner and can pass these permissions to us, or you are otherwise legally entitled to publish the material (and grant Sawanleb all licence rights outlined herein).
- Any royalties or licence fees payable to third parties shall be your sole responsibility. You shall pay all royalties and other sums due to any individual or entity in connection with your content, or which may become payable as a result of its publication on Sawanleb.
- You warrant that our use of your content will not infringe upon any person’s rights or copyrights. Should Sawanleb or its users utilise or employ your submitted content in the manner contemplated by these terms, you warrant that this will not infringe upon or violate any third party’s rights, including (but not limited to) any privacy rights, publicity rights, copyrights, contractual rights, or any other intellectual property or proprietary rights.
- You are responsible for the content you publish. All information submitted to the website, whether publicly posted or privately transmitted, is your sole responsibility.
- We are not responsible for errors in your content. Sawanleb shall not be liable for any errors or omissions in any content.

Sawanleb’s services are legally protected by various means, including copyright, trademarks, service marks, patents, trade secrets, and other rights and laws. You agree to respect all copyright and other legal notices, information, and restrictions contained in any content accessed through the website. Sawanleb grants you a non-exclusive, worldwide, non-sublicensable, non-transferable, revocable licence to reproduce content from the services solely for personal, non-commercial use. This licence covers both Sawanleb’s own protected content and user-generated content on the website. Should you wish to undertake any other actions with content from our website, such as utilising it for commercial advantage or commercial purposes, you must obtain prior written permission from Sawanleb or the relevant copyright holder. ‘Commercial purposes’ denotes any use, sale, licensing, rental, or other exploitative or commercial utilisation.

(We may exercise this discretion at our sole and absolute discretion.)
Should you wish to submit a copyright infringement claim, please visit our Copyright Policy, where you will find contact details for our designated agent and further information on how to submit a notice or counter-notice.
Section 12. Deleting Your Account
You may delete your account at any time via your account settings, though doing so may not automatically remove all content.
You may delete your account at any time via your account settings. To the extent permitted by law, we may retain certain information, such as that necessary for our legitimate business purposes. These terms shall remain in force with respect to your prior and ongoing use of our website and services, including our rights to any content you have submitted to the website. For instance, if you have initiated a project, deleting your account will not automatically remove the project from the website. Similarly, if you have successfully run a funded project campaign on our website, deleting your account will not delete, remove, or hide your project, partly due to the agreement between you and your backers. However, should we take any action pursuant to these rights, we shall inform the account holder of the reasons for such action and whether they can remedy any issues (if applicable), unless prohibited by law or for security interests. For account closures, we shall endeavour to provide advance notice to the account holder of the reasons for such action, unless we are closing the account for reasons relating to illegal or inappropriate content, the security of goods or services, counterfeiting, fraud, malware, spam, data breaches, other cybersecurity risks, or the suitability of goods or services.
